Often total, usually temporary loss

Chemotherapy & radiotherapy

Hair loss usually begins a few weeks after treatment starts, and hair grows back once treatment ends. Meanwhile, the scalp often becomes more sensitive.

Suggested solutions: WigCaps & turbans

How we help

  • An appointment before treatment starts, to match colour and cut
  • Light, breathable caps for a sensitive scalp
  • Soft caps and turbans for home and sleep
  • Help with the EOPYY reimbursement process

Patchy hair loss

Alopecia areata

An autoimmune condition that causes round patches without hair. Its extent can change over time, so it calls for a flexible solution.

Suggested solutions: TopperWig

How we help

  • Toppers for local coverage when patches are few
  • A full wig when hair loss is extensive
  • Adjusting the solution as things change

Loss of all hair

Alopecia totalis & universalis

Alopecia totalis means losing all scalp hair. With universalis, body hair, eyebrows and eyelashes are lost too. The wig becomes an everyday companion, so security and comfort matter most.

Suggested solutions: Wig

How we help

  • Caps with non-slip silicone strips for a secure fit
  • Natural hairline and realistic parting
  • A second wig to rotate, so both last longer

Gradual thinning at the crown

Thinning & female pattern hair loss

The most common form of hair loss in women: the parting widens and the crown thins, while the rest of the hair remains. A full wig usually isn't needed.

Suggested solutions: Topper

How we help

  • Toppers that clip onto your own hair
  • Colour and texture matched to your hair
  • Different base sizes depending on the thinning area

Menopause, pregnancy, thyroid

Hormonal changes

Menopause, childbirth or thyroid disorders can cause diffuse thinning. It's often temporary, but it affects confidence.

Suggested solutions: TopperWig

How we help

  • Toppers and volumisers for diffuse thinning
  • Lightweight wigs for more pronounced cases
  • We also recommend seeing a dermatologist to investigate the cause

Hair loss from hair pulling

Trichotillomania

A recurring, hard-to-control urge to pull out one's hair. A wig or topper covers the areas and also acts as protection, giving hair time to grow back.

Suggested solutions: TopperWig

How we help

  • A discreet, private appointment, with no awkward questions
  • Solutions that protect your own hair
  • Complementary to any therapeutic support you follow

Permanent loss in specific areas

Scarring alopecia, burns & surgery

Conditions such as lichen planopilaris or frontal fibrosing alopecia, as well as scars from burns or surgery, leave areas where hair doesn't grow back.

Suggested solutions: TopperWig

How we help

  • Tailored coverage of the specific area
  • Soft materials that don't irritate the skin
  • A natural hairline for frontal hair loss

Chemotherapy

By your side, before, during and after

  1. 1

    Before treatment

Visit while you still have your hair. We match colour, length and cut, and can shorten your hair to make the transition gentler.

  2. 2

    During treatment

Your wig is ready whenever you need it. For home and sleep we suggest soft cotton caps and turbans.

  3. 3

    When hair grows back

New hair often comes in fine or with a different texture. A topper or a shorter style keeps you company until it grows.

Turbans & Accessories

Less heat and weight, all day long.

  • Secure fit

Adjustable straps and silicone strips, plus special adhesives or tapes where needed.

  • Cotton caps

For comfort at home and at night.
